Yes, I am not kidding with this post. Many of you have either watched or fired a spud gun. With less than $20 dollars, you can build one of these. You ask, What are you going to do? French fry them to death?
The spud gun works on the basic principle of a black powder rifle. It will launch a good sized potato many hundreds of feet with substantial velocity for about five cents worth of hair spray or starter fluid. The key to turning a spud gun into a weapon is what is put in front of the potato.
Using the potato as a wad, (a blocking device to keep the hot expanding gases from going around, thus producing maximum velocity) , anything you put in front of it becomes a projectile. In other words, a projectile loaded with black powder, shrapnel and a impact detonating device can have a devastating effect on it’s target.
Let’s say, and I am speaking hypothetically, you take a smaller piece of PVC pipe, fill it with black powder and nails. Drill a hole in one end and epoxy a black powder rifle primer and a nail in front of it. Fins can be added for flight stabilization. This can be inserted after the potato wad and held in place with a piece of paper towel for transport. Upon firing, when the nail contacts it’s intended target, it pushes against the primer and “BANG”….Low budget RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade).
I would experiment with a dummy grenade filled with nails and sand to get your propellant mixture, weight of projectile, aim and other variables correct. Practice makes perfect and practice makes it safe for the user. The sky is the limit upon what can be shot from these. Directions to build the spud gun are available on the internet.
Remember, pre-assembly of these war heads could be deemed a destructive device by BATFE, which is a felonious act. I would suggest experimenting with dummy rounds and keep what you need to make live ones on hand, post collapse.
Even a LAWs rocket launcher can be built using model rocket engines. Remember what “Rambo” said, the mind is the best weapon, so use your imagination.
Many times I have had customers walk into the store and say ” Wheres the bazookas?”. Well, here you go, here is your bazooka !! : )
