Luckily, no one is dead. A video released on YouTube shows a police officer patrolling a neighborhood when he decides to try to impose his will on man filming in front of his house, pulling his gun for literally no reason.
“Go ahead and take your hand out of your pocket” the officer demands of the man filming on his property not committing a crime or even being suspected of committing a crime.
The officer also questions the unarmed resident Don McComas “What’s wrong with you…. are you some kind of constitutionalist?”
If he was a “constitutionalist” would that be a problem officer? Last time I checked, having your hand in your pocket while being a constitutionalist was still covered under the Bill of Rights.
Doesn’t every police officer in America swear and oath to the Constitution? Did this officer forget? Maybe he’s too old? It sure looks that way.
“We’ve been made aware of this matter and we are taking it seriously. We understand the concerns that have been raised by our community and others and we want the public to know that your trust in law enforcement in our City is a top priority. As a result, we will conduct an internal review to verify that appropriate protocols were followed. We will also review our protocols because we want to make sure we are using the best practices for the highest level of safety for both our officers and the community.” Mayor Amy Ahanotu and City Manager Darrin Jenkins stated in a release on the city’s website.
This kind of behavior has to stop if we want anything resembling a free society.
