Anti-Gunner, Barbara Boxer, seeks to add B-B guns and pellet guns to the list of “Look-alike firearms” in the Look-Alike Weapons Safety Act of 2015 she introduced in the Senate. It is called the “Look-Alike Weapons Safety Act” but will this make the United States safer? This only adds to the regulations for manufacturers and will continue to stifle the free-market from operating. The bill also requires that all “Look-alike firearms” will have to be manufactured in “white, bright red, bright orange, bright yellow, bright green, bright blue, bright pink, or bright purple, either individually or as the predominant color in combination with any other color in any pattern”.
Some amendments made to 15 U.S. Code § 5001 by the Look-Alike Weapons Safety Act of 2015-
(b) Marking and Manufacturing Requirements.–
“(1) In general.–Except as provided in paragraph (2), each toy firearm, look-alike firearm, or imitation firearm shall be marked or manufactured, or both, so that the coloration of the entire exterior surface of the toy firearm, look-alike firearm, or imitation firearm–
“(A) is white, bright red, bright orange, bright yellow, bright green, bright blue, bright pink, or bright purple, either individually or as the predominant color in combination with any other color in any pattern; and
“(B) is permanent.
Also…
(b) Repeal of Exception From Regulation of Certain Imitation Firearms.–The first subsection (c) of such section (15 U.S.C. 5001) (relating to the definition of “look-alike firearm”) is amended to read as follows: “(c) Look-Alike Firearm Defined.–
“(1) In general.–In this section, except as provided in paragraph (2), the term `look-alike firearm’ means any imitation of any original firearm which was manufactured, designed, and produced since 1898, including the following:
“(A) Toy guns.
“(B) Water guns.
“(C) Replica nonguns.
“(D) Air-soft guns firing nonmetallic projectiles.
“(E) Traditional B-B and pellet-firing air guns that expel a projectile through the force of air pressure.
“(2) Exceptions.–In this section, the term `look-alike firearm’ does not include the following: “(A) Any look-alike, nonfiring, collector replica of an antique firearm developed prior to 1898. “(B) Paint-ball guns that expel a projectile through the force of air pressure.”.
Of course, Hollywood is always the exception. Under the “Alternatives and Waivers” section of the bill, movie makers are free to use look-alike firearms. I’m sure anti-gun celebrities like Liam Neeson, who make their living off of gun violence on screen, will totally support this waste of legislation.
“(B) waive the requirement of any such coloration or marking for any toy firearm, look-alike firearm, or imitation firearm that will only be used in the theatrical, movie, or television industry.”
