When martial law is declared, you may be detained indefinitely.  You have no Miranda Rights and no constitutional guarantees of your Unalienable Rights.  You will be shot on sight, or taken into custody for violating curfews, or just trying to scavenge the items you need to stay alive.

Whatever your fear, the 5 "B" 's still apply and I emphasize Beans, Bullets, and Band aids as your primary preps if you are just getting started or are on an extremely tight budget.
