Tomahawks

by Jim Long | PREPPINGANDSURVIVING.BLOGSPOT.COM | June 17, 2015

This is an item that can serve many functions.  It can be used in self defense or offensive actions. It can be used as a tool to split wood or notch logs to make shelter.

If you practice with it, you can learn how to throw it.  I suggest taking an old feed sack and filling it with rags or sawdust to use as a target to get the flip down so you hit the head every time. Otherwise you stand the chance of breaking off the handle.

For this reason, keeping some back up handles might be a wise move.

There are designs that have been around since the 1600’s and new designs like the Vietnam Tomahawk or the SOG tactical tomahawks.

Any of these make a formidable weapon and an outstanding tool to add to your low tech collection.
