I have been over this before, but it is important. All the storage food, ammo, silver and gold you have stored maybe for not if you have no skills.
I have quite a few out of shape people coming in that have all their ducks in a row, but rest there. Number one skill…..You need to get in shape. Health issues arrive with obesity. Also, you wind up with hole issues…. The bullet hole your attacker puts through you by your not being able to run and cover effectively.
Number two skill…Less ammo used the better. Take a shooting course. Don’t let yourself get suckered in by “that’s close enough” theology. With a finite amount of ammo you must make every shot count.
Number three….Learn to live outdoors. I am talking about for an extended time. Take one week’s vacation and spend the entire thing with your family camping. I will also suggest moving your camp once during that trip in bug out fashion. Look for edible plants and maybe practice building snares and dead falls. Fish. Try and come back with as much food as you can. There have been situations where not only did I not touch my food, but came home with a day’s limit of trout. If money to travel is an issue camp in the backyard and learn the skills.
Number four….Use only storage food and develop recipes of your own on this. I don’t know what you like or dislike, so you must come up with recipes. Storage food eating can get mighty old, mighty quick if you don’t come up with ways to make a variety in it.
There are several others I have not mentioned. Let your mind take you to the places and skills you need. Practice, practice, practice !!!
