Freedom by Force Doesn’t Work

by Stuart Webb | WeaponizedNews.Com | Feb 11, 2015

You can never promote Freedom and Democracy using Authoritarianism and Tyranny. It is the epitome of hypocrisy. It parallels the double speak of the book “1984”; War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, and Ignorance is Strength. War is not peace, Freedom is not Slavery, and Ignorance does not give you strength, it weakens you. This is why I strongly oppose the United States using any type of military force to intervene in foreign conflicts for the purpose of protecting civilians and or promoting democracy.

First of all, using military force in a foreign nation against a foreign enemy is an act of War, and pre-emptive war is wrong in all circumstances. When we decide to intervene in foreign conflicts, we are deciding to include ourselves in matters that are none of our business, or else they would be conflicts within our borders. When using military force to protect civilians, you often end up killing more civilians in the long term then would have been killed had no military intervention been ordered to begin with. Justifying invasions by saying it is humanitarian and that it is for the foreign nations own good, is hardly a reason to get involved. Imagine if China decided they should get involved in our conflicts here at home. Imagine if China decided to intervene in our civil rights issues. Does China know what is best for Americans? Does the Chinese military know what is best for you and your family?

Many disagree with this approach to unconstitutional military intervention because they believe the United States needs to spread democracy to all nations around the globe by force. This creates chaos in the nations we invade and occupy, while also allowing the freedoms we are trying to promote aboard, to decay within our own country. It does not promote a healthy democracy and it always does more harm then good. It creates more oppression and tyrannical governance overall, completely defeating the stated goal, and achieving the opposite.

The United States hasn’t declared war since December 7th, 1941, and since then the United States military has been involved in countless acts of war in many countries. This has made us very unpopular around the world; making us less safe. Allowing this to continue is condoning a never ending, perpetual state of war, with no clear enemy, no clear goal, and no clear exit. Not only is this activity promoting death and destruction, but also it is extremely expensive and frankly unaffordable. The economic costs are devastating and the moral costs are unrecoverable. This is why I opposed all U.S. military intervention in foreign conflicts.
