Generally, the start of the new year is always a time when people celebrate success of the previous year, set goals, budget for their business, strategize their life approach, plan so they improve upon their past performance and just shake things up so they feel they have a clean slate at the beginning of January. Looking back at 2014, we’ve seen and continue to see everything from the United States posturing against Russia with sanctions and war mongering from the mainstream media, to civil unrest in Ferguson and the first Ebola cases in the U.S.. While these are some important topics of discussion that have fueled the media outlets narrative, there are also some very troubling numbers that need to be addressed. These numbers, while sounding outrageous and potentially false, are backed up. Some of these numbers regarding the direction of our economy, the mental capacity of the public and the overall state Americans are living in makes you realize the immense impediment our country has to overcome if we want to live in a free society. The article posted by Zero Hedge goes over 50 numbers that look unreasonable even for the decaying American economy but nonetheless are a reality. “48 percent – Only 48 percent of Americans can immediately come up with $400 in emergency cash without borrowing it or selling something.” The average American family doesn’t have a sufficient financial reserve for any type of financial rainy day. “20,000 – Right now McDonald’s has 14,267 locations in the United States, but payday lenders have more than 20,000.” A large amount of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. “100,000 – It is estimated that there are at least 100,000 underage sex workers in the United States.” This shows the growing desensitization to immorality. “30,000,000 – In America today, more than 30 million Americans are taking antidepressants.  And keep in mind that antidepressants are only one class of pharmaceutical drug.  Overall, nearly 70 percent of all Americans are currently on at least one prescription drug according to the Mayo Clinic.” Big Pharma has become the biggest and most lethal drug dealer on the planet. This is legal drug dealing at it’s finest but unaffected by the so-called War on Drugs. “$40,000,000 – More than 40 million dollars has been spent just on vacations for Barack Obama and his family since he has been in the White House.” The majority of Americans struggle to make a living while we pay for our Dictator-in-Chief to live lavishly on the taxpayer’s dime. “49,000,000 – An astounding 49 million Americans are considered to be facing food insecurity at this point.” When close to 50 million people are a few meals away from going hungry, you know there is a big problem. These are just a few of the many of the numbers listed. If this trend continues, the United States could easily look like Ferguson, Missouri at any given moment.
